Can anybody help me with gluten free recipes?

Posted by Comments (6)

Question by Millie J: Can anybody help me with gluten free recipes?
Can anybody give me some fantastic gluten free recipes for an afternoon tea sort of thing? I’m having a 12year-old girl over for a cooking afternoon, and she has celiac disease. We want to bake something like cookies and a fancy cake with coffee.
It needs to be fun and exciting! (preferably something that she can take home aswell)

Thanks

Is there a pocket book that has list gluten free foods that is help full when grocery shopping?

Question by uabillmeier: Is there a pocket book that has list gluten free foods that is help full when grocery shopping?
I was just diagnosed with a gluten allergy. I was wondering if there was a book or reference guide to bring along to the store when shopping. A book that has updated products/foods that are gluten free. Also if it could have a list of the hidden ingredients to look out for. I have gone shopping but get overwhelmed. I think if I had a book I could carry along and to look at it would help. Any suggestions?

hi welcome to the club. i self diagnosed after noticing my symptoms. no health care here. but ive found that the manufacturers can be really helpful . lays gave me a complete list. fritos and regular lays chips are okay imagine that. i might suggest the yahoo group on celiac or gluten free. there are a few other group sites on the internet too. ive found that kroger will have lots of gf products in the health food section. but the local health food store will have better selection. its really a work in progress for me an i still havent fouund a good substitute for breakfast. you can find tons of recipes on the net and there are some books out there.

According to the Redbridge(gluten free beer) website, it can be found at:

This might be a distributor, however a call to them and they can let you know local stores that will carry it.

HELP! I’m always sick, tired, and at 18 have no life… Anyone?

Posted by admin Comments (3)

Question by Jane Simon: HELP! I’m always sick, tired, and at 18 have no life… Anyone?
I dropped out of high school a year ago because I was ALWAYS sick. I finished my degree online and am going to university online. I lost all of my friends because I can’t leave the house and can’t have anyone come over. I can’t even go to the grocery store with my family because I’m so sick. i’m worried I will have no future because I am soooooo sick all of the time.

I’m always tired.
My stomach always hurts. It burns, aches, is nauseous, crampy, feels like someone is stabbing it, and is ‘fluttery’. I feel like a heartbeat in my stomach and I have a sever pain (usually sharp) just under my ribs on both sides. The left side of my stomach/gi tract always hurts.
I’m dizzy.
My joints/bones hurt.

I’ve already been diagnosed with celiac disease and have been gluten free for three years, but nothing has changed at all. I just want to be normal and live a normal life. I want to have relationships and get a job and be able to support myself. I want to be a normal 18 year old… I want my license but can’t get through a drivers ed course because I feel so sick.

Please, if you have any suggestions or thoughts as to what could be wrong with me, I would really appreciate it.

(Family history includes: Colon cancer, Ulcerative Colitis, Diverticulitis)

Thank you so much.
Also, I can never gain weight no matter how much I eat. I’m 5’7 and weigh between 99-103lbs.

Food makes me incredibly sick. No matter what I eat, or don’t eat, I feel incredibly sick afterwards.

Thought these too would be important details.
I’ve been to the doctors more times than I can count. They are all left scratching their heads.
