Greater Boston – 2008 Walk Now for Autism

Greater Boston Walk Raises Million On Sunday, Oct. 19, walkers raised million at the 8th annual Greater Boston Walk Now for Autism, which was held at Suffolk Downs Racetrack in East Boston, Mass. The 20000 walkers hailed from 600 teams 200 more teams than at last years event. News anchor Randy Price of WHDH 7News once again served as emcee. Guest speakers included Ann Guay of Mass. Advocates for Children and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. Entertainment at the Walk was varied and plentiful, including the Higashi School Jazz Band, all-mom rock group HRT, and soloist Jamie Manning. The resource fair featured 36 participating companies and organizations including the Harvard Lab for Developmental Studies, UMass Boston, BU School of Medicine and Childrens Hospital, which brought information regarding research studies. Special thanks to the sponsors who made the Walk possible, especially national sponsors ToysRUs, Parade magazine and Nutricia. Generous local sponsors included Digital Federal Credit Union, the Boston Red Sox, The TJX Companies, Wireless Zone, BJs Wholesale, Mass Printing and Forms, Coca-Cola, The Kraft Group, Cambridge Savings Bank, massAV, Boston Culinary Group, WHDH 7News, Oldies 103.3, Cape Cod Chips, Bachmans Pretzels and Will Avery. 2008 Walk Now for Autism – Cleveland, OH

7000 Walkers in Cleveland Raise more than 4000 On Sunday, September 28, 7000 people walked at Progressive Field, home of the Cleveland Indians, for the 2nd annual Cleveland Walk Now for Autism. The walkers, on nearly 350 teams, raised over 4000. Entertainment at the Walk was varied and plentiful and included childrens games and bounce houses. Music was provided by a competition singing group from Mentor High School and DJ Nick Zappitelli. Children met Star Wars characters, monkeys and a kangaroo. Seth Qwast, a local artist with autism, displayed his artwork. The event was emceed by Eileen McShea and Bill Safos, on-air personalities from WKYC-3. Alex Kulik from the Cleveland Clinic Center spoke during the opening ceremonies. The Walk hosted a resource fair which showcased 34 companies and organizations, including Natures Bin, which provided gluten free snacks, Cleveland Clinic, Akron Childrens Hospital, Morgan Stanley, Music Therapy and Vitamin Water. A number of generous sponsors contributed to the success of the Cleveland Walk Now for Autism, especially Childrens Hospital at the Cleveland Clinic, which served as a Gold Sponsor. Morgan Stanley and the Akron Childrens Hospital served as Silver Sponsors and Pat and Sandy Marron made a financial contribution to the Walk. Reversing Autism – How We Are Doing It

This is our journey so far with autism. www.reverseautismnow.org Natalie has been on a restricted diet that eliminates allergen foods for 3 and a half months now and shows great recovery from autism with more room for improvement, but great success so far. She is also getting help from additional therapies, and we recently enrolled her in a research study through MSU to further help her and offer more hope to other parents. Natalie is recovering from autism. It is possible!
